In to the Wind

I think I got engaged today, somewhere, years and a lifetime ago, maybe two.

In Superior wind, the rocking of the ferry and the stillness of the island swept in our future in 85 diamonds and a great idea that would go quite wrong: a building of glass under too much sun, or a fire with new, wet wood.

But our kids were in our dreams then and a sailboat, and a life without disasters. And it all weighed too much in the end, leaving us with bank accounts to divide and different coasts to run to.

But oh. Today. With this wind. This lake and all the tipping boats with sails moored here…here, there is future, too.
